Production for Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is underway, and actress Sophia Nomvete, who plays Princess Disa, shared her excitement during a recent Deadline Contenders TV panel discussion. was first to report.

Nomvete described Season 2 as "going beautifully," revealing that the characters will be dealing with the arrival of the villainous Sauron, which she called "absolutely mind-blowing." Nomvete acknowledged the significance of her role as the first female dwarf and first dwarf of color in the Tolkien universe, adding that most of her anxiety with the role stemmed from her own expectations--which she referred to as her "warrior" moment. She expressed pride in representing this historic moment and being a symbol of empowerment for women in the world of fantasy.

The show's production designer, Ramsey Avery, shared that Season 2 takes a different approach to depict the Second Age of Middle Earth, which is characterized by epicness, power, vibrancy, and tactfulness. The creative team aimed to capture the grandeur of each culture and race during that time period. "While the creative team had plenty of inspiration to draw from, it also required a different approach to bring the Second Age to life, since the Third Age (seen in the films) is "all about decay.'," Avery said.
